Will this cpu work on a new built computer?
I am planning to build a new computer but keeping the same HD, CD drive and cpu. Will my old cpu (Pentium D 2.8ghz duel core) in my dell xps 400 work with my new computer?
Yes it should work with most new motherboards on the LGA 775 format. Core 2 Duo should be on your upgrade path. Even the cheap E2140 ($ 70) easily beats the Pentium D 2.8 gHz.

But the new Pentiums (E2140 – 2180) are actually wonderful when overclocked.
