Can someone tell me of a diagnostic test that I can run on my PC to see what part is damaged?
I have a computer I wish to set up and it runs extremely slow. It’s will run WinXp and has 1GB of RAM and an 80gb hard drive. I am installing WinXP and it has taken 4 hours to do 20 mins of installing. My guess is my Pentium 3 chip or the WD Caviar 80gb Hard drive is damaged. Is there a test I can run to see is that or something else?
First of all, you don’t have any trojans if you’re doing a fresh install. Good answer there smart guy.
Pentium 3 is going to run XP slowly. No getting around it. Definitely check out the hardware though. Can’t hurt anything. But if everything is still looking like it works, then make sure you wipe out your existing partition and re-format your harddrive before you install XP again.
